The war of the world’s brightest stars will kick off in Jeju
‘Defending champion’ Justin Thomas, ‘man of the majors’ Brooks Koepka, ‘two-time season championship winner’ Jason Day
Brooks Koepka who won two majors this season and Jason Day who made a glorious comeback by winning multiple times this season announced their participation in THE CJ CUP, in addition to ‘defending champion’ Justin Thomas. Brooks Koepka became known to Korean fans as the first repeat winner of the US Open in 29 years back in June. He also won the 100th PGA Championship and is ranked as high as second in world standings, rising as one of the PGA Tour golfers that Korean fans are eager to see. With the participation of Brooks Koepka in THE CJ CUP who now is in his prime, Korean fans can now actually see the man, who has won three majors to date, in action.
Former number one golfer Jason Day, who visited Korea for the Presidents Cup in 2015 and THE CJ CUP last year, is also coming back to meet his Korean golf fans. He faltered in the last tournament with 4 under par in Round 4 and ended up as 11th in the ranking, but this season, he won the Wells Fargo Championship and Farmers Insurance Open, making a glorious comeback and is expecting to show a strong performance in THE CJ CUP as well. Day also filmed a Jeju PR video last year in which he tasted seafood freshly caught by haenyeo, taking the initiative in promoting Jeju to the world in addition to THE CJ CUP.
