#CHAMPION

2018 Champion
Brooks Koepka
  • How do you feel about winning the title?

Fantastic. It's amazing to grind out today.
Didn't get off to the best start that I wanted but on the 8th I realized that I was tied with Gary. It's amazing to go World No. 1 on a win, which is something I've always wanted to do.

  • This is your fifth PGA TOUR victory and your first in South Korea. How do you feel?
And how was the Nine Bridges course?

It's unbelievable. I look at where I started, my first pro start was in Switzerland and I don't think I could have said six years later that I would be No. 1 in the world.
I think it's incredible. I look forward to coming back next year. This course is fantastic and challenging. So it's exciting to play in. I'm too delighted to say anything.

  • You made a chip-in birdie at the 16th.
How did you pull that off?

Obviously, I didn't hit the best of drives by putting it in that bunker.
In the bunker, I hit it left and the ball went into the rough. The chip was probably 25 yards.
I tried to finish the hole with a bogey. I knew it was good when I hit it, I just didn't know it was going to be in.
My caddie even said right before I hit the shot, you know, "This is the one you need to hole." He never really says that. For that to drop definitely felt like I had won the tournament.

  • Now you're World No. 1. How do you reset your goals moving forward?

I keep the same goals through the calendar year.
I set my goals on January 1.
At the next tournament, coming out as No. 1, I'd like to really play well. It's important to be prepared and stay healthy this offseason.
I want to be prepared well so I can play well in the FedExCup.

  • What was the most crucial birdie to win the tournament?

The ones on 15 and 16 were crucial.
Especially the birdie on 16 was a big key.
I always felt like I was in control today.

  • How do you feel about playing at the CJ Cup?
What is your impression of Korea?

    Beautiful and fantastic.
I have visited many places around
the world and now Korea is one of them.
The course is also so beautiful.
